Alfa Romeo - Alfa Romeo 1750 & 2000

The Alfa Romeo 1750 and 2000 were built between 1968 and 1977. Introduced in January of 1968, the Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina (of nearly 1800cc capacity) was built as a refined comfortable and effortless car. For 1969 there were improvements with dual circuit brakes and various other details such as disappearing windscreen wipers. The 1750 model was made as a saloon in mind, with a body looking like a more smooth panelled Giulia Berlina, and with a longer wheelbase. From 1971 the Alfa 1750 Berlina evolved to the bigger engined Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina, with a bored and stroked version of the same engine resulting in 1962cc. The 2000 Berlina in the meantime was made from 1971 to 1977, after which the factory replaced it with the Alfetta 2000.

There were a number of 1750 engined derivatives, for example the tuned 118 hp 1750GT Veloce (1967 - 1972) and the Pininfarina cam tail 1750 Spider Veloce fitted with the more powerful 1750GT engine (1967 to 1971).

Tyre size :

- All the Alfa Romeo 1750 range of Berlina,1750 GT Veloce and 1750 Spider Veloce all had tyre size 165HR14 originally, and this is what we would recommend.

- Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina, 2000GT and 2000 Spider Veloce were fitted with the 165HR14 from the factory.

- Blockley produces the period correct H (130mph) speed rated 165HR14 size which is the best tyre you can buy. Anyone wanting a wider tyre on the same diameter should use the 185/70VR14 size also produced by Blockley, as fitted to the later Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider S4.
