Alfa Romeo - Alfa Romeo 2000
The Alfa Romeo 2000 introduced in 1958 was the Alfa Romeo model that replaced the 1900 Super. The capacity of 1975cc was retained but the power was increased to 105bhp at lower the lower engine revolutions of 5300, making it better suited for continual high speed touring. The Alfa Romeo 2000 was based on the chassis and engine of the 1900, and was offered with both Berlina and Spider bodywork, the Carrozzeria Touring bodied Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 having a higher tuned engine giving 115bhp at 5700 rpm. The same power output was available when Alfa Romeo introduced their next version, the characteristic 2000 Sprint at the end of 1960, with a good looking 2 door fixed head coupe body by Bertone which had 2 pairs of headlights. Production of the Alfa Romeo 2000 continued to 1961.
