Alvis - Alvis 4.3
The 4.3 Alvis was built in the same year as the Speed 25, in 1936. Bored out from 83mm to a 92mm bore, the engine was almost 4.4 litres capacity (4387cc) so the mystery is why it was not called the Alvis 4.4 litre! This larger capacity engine was put in a modified Speed 25 chassis, to provide a genuine 100 mph car which was fitted with independent front suspension.
