Alvis - Alvis FWD
The Front Wheel drive (FWD) Alvis production cars were made starting in 1928. They were the sportiest of the Alvis cars with special overhead camshaft 4 cylinder 1482 cc engines, available to purchase with and without supercharger. Production of the 4 cylinder cars ended in 1929, followed by very few 8 cylinder examples. In addition to these special production cars mentioned, the factory also had their team of "Works" cars that ran from 1925 onward with potent roller bearing engines, running at venues such as the Tourist Trophy at Ards in Northern Ireland, Le Mans and Brooklands, as well as also making 8 cylinder cars. Not many Alvis Front Wheel Drive cars were built, and even fewer survive.
Alvis FWD (Front Wheel Drive) tyre size was originally 500x20, which Blockley produces the best example of. For any cars fitted with other wheel diameters, Blockley will no doubt have the tyres sizes to fit these non standard sizes as well! See full details of the 20" Blockley tyre below:
