Amilcar - Amilcar C4
The Amilcar C4 had a 57mmx95mm engine (just over 1,000cc) putting it in the French 6HP tax bracket. It was referred to in the period French magazines also as the Amilcar 4C. The C4 was available from 1922 and stayed in production until 1929. The main alteration during this time was a need to provide a rear axle differential half way through its production life! The Amilcar C4 was a popular model, economically priced with low running costs - it was very similar to the Amilcar CC and CS apart from being given a longer wheel base.
Tyre size for the Amilcar C4 was 700x80. In fact all these early Amilcar models ( types CC and CS ) were fitted with this same 700x80 tyre size, the imperial numbering of which is the 26x3 size. Blockley produce the best 700x80 tyre with a robust sidewall and suitable for motor cars (as well as suitable for motorcycles).
