Amilcar - Amilcar CGS
The Amilcar CGS first appeared in 1924 as a four cylinder 1100cc, which was based on their earlier Amilcar C4 model. CGS meant Type C Grand Sport. The Amilcar CGS had a stronger and longer frame, as well as a larger capacity 1074cc engine, which along with the model CGS has pressure fed oiling to replace the splash feed. It was also sensibly fitted with four wheel brakes to help this faster car to stop. Similar to the Amilcar CGS was another model from 1926, the lowered (Surbaisse) CGSS, which were quite often supercharged as well.
Original tyre fitment for Amilcar CGS and CGSS was 700x80 (26x3) which Blockley produces the best example of. Many of these vehicles have over the decades been altered to 19" wheels in which case people use the 400x19 size, but the cars look so much better with the original beaded edge fitment. Our Blockley 26x3 (700x80) and 710x90 which we also often see on these cars, are totally reliable, handle fantastically and will give incredible mileage, so if there is a choice go the beaded edge route if you can! But otherwise we can supply every other tyre size suitable for 19" wheels. And certainly by 1927 Amilcar was using 400x19 size tyres on the C6. See full details of these Blockley tyres below:
