Audi - Audi 80
The Audi 80 was produced under Volkswagen ownership from 1966, in either saloon or estate versions, these Audi 80's having the same platform that was used with the VW Passat. Up to 1972 the F103 range included the Audi 80, but from 1972 a new series of 2 and 4 door Audi 80 models were built, now developed under Volkswagen ownership with four cylinder 1.3, 1.4 and eventually 1.6 litre engines. Models were the base model Audi 80 and the slightly more powerful Audi 80S, with more power for the Audi LS, or the top of the range Audi 80GL. From 1976 onward there were bodywork alterations with square headlights and the 1.6 litre engine, the fuel injected version being marketed as the Audi 80 GTE. For 1978 the Audi 80 was redesigned on a different platform, with new bodywork designed by Giugiaro, and this range was continually developed through to 1986.
Audi 80 tyre size up to the year 1986 were on 13 inch wheel rims , and post 1986 the Audi 80 used larger 14" wheels. Tyre sizes 155R13 and the wider 175/70R13 were the fitments with the larger engine capacity cars being exclusively 175/70R13, as well as the GT version having the wider 175/70R13. This 175/70R13 tyre size covers the Audi 80 GT, GTE, GL, GLS models and because the Blockley 175/70R13 is V s[peed rated it is also correct fitment for all the more powerful Audi 80's (and Blockley produces the perfect high speed rated 175/70VR13 tyre, details below. But interestingly, in period Dunlop, Avon and Pirelli tyre fitment guides they all list the 165R13 tyre size as being correct, so we list our 165VR13 tyre size. The Audi 80 Estate was often specified with this 165R13 tyre size.
Post 1986 Audi 80 using 14" wheels were originally fitted with 165R14 size, and Blockley make an excellent speed rated, steel belt 165HR14 tyre, until 1992. See full details of these Audi 80 tyre sizes below:
