Austin - Austin Maestro
The Austin Maestro was the British Leyland replacement for their previous Allegro and Maxi models, with the Maestro becoming available from 1982. The Austin Maestro had the hatchback 4 door bodywork, while the the notch backed body version became the Montego. There were high hopes for the Austin Maestro which was designed from a clean sheet, to be able to secure a solid foundation for British Leyland, a company which was UK Government owned. The engine originally intended for the new design was not completed in time so the E series engine as used in the Maxi was used instead. But the new S series engine was completed for 1984. Austin Maestro production continued to 1991.
Austin Maestro had two tyre sizes - For cars fitted with 13" wheels the tyre size was 165R13 , while the higher powered Austin Maestro models fitted with 14" wheels had 185/70R14 tyre size fitted. Blockley produce both the 165HR13 and 185/70VR14 tyre sizes, details below:
