Bristol - Bristol 405

Reverting back to the normal 2 litre Bristol wheelbase of 9ft. 6 inches, the Bristol 405, available from 1954, looked very much like a 4 door long wheelbase version of the Bristol 404 but with an opening boot (which at least one 404 also had), and a bit more weight! This was the first time Bristol offered a 4 door model. In addition, there was also a 405 drophead coupe, on the same wheelbase, which was a 2 door 4 seater car which was the work of Abbots. The engine in the Bristol 405 was the same 100B, now called 100B2 with small changes including the valve timing and this was mated to the gearbox which now had overdrive as standard. The 405 was built up to 1958.
