Bugatti - Bugatti Type 37
The Bugatti Type 37 was fitted with a 1500cc four cylinder engine as used in the type 40 (but with longer engine mounting arms due to the different chassis), in what was basically the Type 35 frame frame. The engine produced 60hp, while the supercharged version, the 37A was quoted as having 80hp. The Type 37 was built until 1930.
Bugatti Type 37 tyre size was originally 27x4.40 which in todays language is the 4.50x19 size, fitted virtually always to wire wheels. The supercharged 37A was also fitted with wire wheels, and extremely rarely with the cast alloy wheels. Our high quality
good speed rated Blockley 450x19 is the most authentic and correct tyre
that you could fit to the Type 37. These Blockley tyres really are the best tyres
available, and better still are at a
fraction of
the cost of a weak handling Michelin or pretty much anything else - this is only
because we sell our tyres direct to the end
user, garages and restoration shops and avoid the use of the Classic
tyre wholesalers. Blockley makes tyres and high quality inner tubes for a
very different reason to other makers of "old car hobby" tyres! Note that on many occasions owners fit the 4.75x19 tyre size on the rear axle of a Type 37, so we show this tyre below also. Blockley is the only company to make a 4.75x19 tyre - whereas elsewhere if you see 4.75 this is because it is a dual marked 500x19 tyre, with 475 engraved onto teh mould. . .
