Citroen - Citroen SM
Citroen bought the ailing Maserati company in 1968 to further a long running project at Citroen. The idea of building a truly fast Grand Turismo using the Citroens suspension. The futuristic new Citroen SM was available in 1970, with many unusual features, especially the steering which needed a little getting used to. Using the V6 Maserati engine of only 2.7 litres on carburettors the car had a top speed of 220kmh. Built in an age of optimism! This was the same engine that was used in the Maserati Merak in 3 litre form.
When Peugeot took over Citroen in 1975, they sold off Maserati and stopped production of the Citroen SM.
Citroen SM tyre size to fit is the 205/70R15. Blockley produces a 205/70VR15 with W 168mph speed rating.
