Daimler - Daimler DB18 / Consort

The DB18 Daimler 2 1/2 litre of 1939, forerunner of the postwar Daimler DB18 Consort, was the Daimler companies move away from the larger car models built by Daimler. The DB18 used the six cylinder overhead valve 2 1/2 litre (2522 cc) engine designed prewar for the Daimler scout car. The Daimler factories main concern from 1939 was the production of military vehicles, so the bulk of Daimler DB18 production did not resume until after the war, with a saloon or with drophead body options by either Tickford or Barker. The DB18 had independent front suspension and all had preselector gearboxes  driven from a fluid flywheel. The DB18 was built until 1950, when it overlapped the Daimler DB18 Consort, a more modernised version, which was produced until 1953. Throughout production there were upgrades such as hydraulic operated front brakes, and the usual stylistic differences.

Daimler DB18 and Consort original tyre fitment was 6.00x16. Blockley also produced the perfect radial equivalent of this which is our 185VR15 size.
