De Tomaso - De Tomaso Longchamp 2+2
Shortly after producing the 4 door De Tomaso Deauville saloon, De Tomaso made a shortened version 2 door 2+2 coupe, using the same V8 engine and called the new car Longchamp 2+2, with bodywork design also by Tom Tjaarda, as on the 4 door car. The Longchamp was available from 1972.
Later on, when De Tomaso was in charge for resuscitating the Maserati concern after Citroen ownership, the De Tomaso Longchamp became the basis for the Maserati Kyalami, the 5.7 litre V8 Ford engine of the Longchamp giving way to the perfect engine bay into which to place the V8 Maserati engine. The De Tomaso Longchamp stayed in production until 1989.
