Delage - Delage DI , DIS , DISS
The Delage DI replaced the DE model for 1923. Both these models were in the same 11hp tax bracket, but the DI, with its overhead valve engine was so much more powerful. Because of this improved performance, this now allowed coachbuilders the ability to produce larger and heavier bodywork where necessary. In early road tests it was remarked on how very smooth the 4 cylinder Delage DI engine was, and felt like it was a 6 cylinder machine. The DI model, in its various chassis lengths and specifications, carried on until 1928.
The original tyre fitment for Delage DI, Delage DIS and Delage DISS was 820x120, throughout its entire production. The Blockley 820x120 is the perfect tyre for these Delage, not only because they are the best tyres but the tread pattern is perfect for these French cars. Delage cars were listed with beaded edge tyres up to and including 1929. Any Delage DI which have been converted away from these beaded edge tyres could now be rebuilt back to using the 820x120 Blockley tyres with total reliability. But for the many cars subsequently fitted with well base wheels of 20 inch or 21 inch, Blockley also produces a substantial range of tyres in these sizes which we have supplied to many owners, such as 4.50x21, 5.00x20 and 5.25x21.
