DKW - DKW 1000
The Auto Union / DKW 1000 was built between 1958 and 1965 and was the larger 981cc two stroke version of the DKW 900 which ran alongside for a short period. Other than the enlarged engine, and an Auto Union badge, there was no difference between the Auto Union and the DKW. The bodywork available was the 2 door and 4 door saloons, as well as a coupe and estate version (called the Universal). There was also the Auto Union 1000SP sports car with bodywork by Baur, who by 1961 added an open version of it, which many refereed to as a Baby Thunderbird, for the similar look it had to the Ford.
Auto Union 1000 or DKW 1000 tyre size was originally 155R15.
