Elva
The Elva marque was the work of Frank Nichols who had built himself a race car, which led on to making the Elva Mk1 in 1955, Mk2 in 1957 right up to the Mk8, Formula Juniors (with front engine and later fitted with engines at the rear) and Elva-Porsche. But aside from the race cars, Nichols also designed and built a production road car called the Elva Courier in 1958, a 2 seater lightweight fibreglass bodied car using an MG engine and gearbox, placed well back in the ladder chassis frame. Primarily built for export, but a kit was listed for UK customers to avoid the purchase tax. During the production of the Elva Courier Mk2 the rights were purchased by Trojan in 1962 and the Elva road cars were produced by Trojan until 1967.
