Facel Vega - Facel III
The Facel Vega company introduced the Facel III model with a new engine, following some problems with their earlier unit. For 1963, an outsourced engine was fitted in a different version of the Facellia, which was a twin carburettor version of the Volvo P1800 engine. But although reliable, the Volvo engine was less powerful and the extra weight of the engine did not improve the handling. The Volvo engine was later followed by fitting the more powerful Austin 3 litre engine, to the same specification as the Austin Healey 3000, which brought back the performance with the Facel 6.
Tyre size for the Facel III was originally tyre size 5.90x14.
Radial equivalent of this tyre size is 165R14 . Blockley produce a good
speed rated period correct high speed rated 165HR14, while we have also
supplied the wider 185/70VR14 tyre size. See full details of the these
two tyres below: For those wanting a larger tyre altogether we also produce a full profile 185HR14 . .
