Facel Vega - Facel Vega FV
The Facel Vega was first shown in late 1954 at the Paris show with DeSoto 4.5 litre V8 built by Chrysler, the FV standing for Facel Vega, with chassis designed by Lance Macklin. By 1956 the cars became the FVS, where S stood for sport, these cars having a slightly longer chassis, with front Dunlop disc brakes available from 1958. It is the FVS (called FV2 at the factory) that started the wrap around American inspired windscreen. The FV3 got the twin headlight per side front end with the FV3B getting a bigger 301 cubic Plymouth engine, and wider bodywork. These Facel Vegas were built to the end of 1958 and in effect became the later HK500 for 1959 which we cover elsewhere on the Blockley Tyre Co site.
The Facel Vega FV original tyre fitment was 6.70x15. The Blockley radial 185VR15 size is the radial equivalent to a cross ply 6.70x15, but we have supplied Facel Vega owners with the wider (but same diameter) 205/70VR15 Blockley tyres. See full details of these two tyre sizes below. In addition Blockley also produce a larger 15" tyre (215/70VR15), which we have also supplied to Facel Vega owners, so you can compare all 3 tyre sizes and specifications at the links below:
