Ferrari - Ferrari 166
The Ferrari 166 engine was based on the original Ferrari V12 designed by Gioacchino Colombo. Bored and stroked to 1995 cc for the 2 litre class. The Ferrari 166 was made between 1948 and 1953. The 166S was the Sports Race model, followed by the 166MM (Mille Miglia), the Touring bodies of which became the inspiration for the Anglicised AC Ace later on.
Blockley was asked by an Italian restoration company to produce a tyre for the early V12 Ferraris, which had tyre sizes 550x15 and later on 5.90x15, so we produced a perfect looking and handling tyre marked 550x15 which was an amalgam of both sizes. For a Ferrari 166 we would recommend the Blockley "550x15" tyre. However if the customer would prefer a radial tyre the 165VR15 size would be suitable.
