Ferrari - Ferrari 375 MM / America
The Ferrari 375 MM of 1953 had the Lampredi 4.5 litre V12 engine (375 x 12 = 4494cc). The factory works cars were fitted with this engine, as used in the 375 Grand Prix car which needed to be under 4.5 litres capacity to conform to the FIA rules, and it was this that finally defeated the "Alfetta" Tipo 159 Alfa Romeo. Customer cars 375 America had a similar 4523cc engine, which was used also in the road car 375 America. While on the subject of Ferrari 375, there was also the 375 Plus which was a 5 litre version of which a few sports racers were made
Original tyre size was 600x16 and Blockley produces a 600x16 with great period looks that has been fitted to Ferrari 375 MM already. For a 375 Plus you could also fit the 650x16 size on the rear. For the 375 America the cross ply 600x16 would be good, but an alternative radial tyre would be the equivalent 185VR16 .
