Healey - Healey Silverstone
From 1946 Donald Healey produced a variety of cars, building mostly aerodynamic sports cars on his own chassis with independent suspension designed by the Italian Sampiero. The engine of choice was the 2.5 litre 4 cylinder Riley, and Healey built a succession of saloons (Elliot Saloon) roadsters coupes and tourers, including the cycle winged spartan Healey Silverstone. Bodied by Abbey panels it had a windscreen that could go into the scuttle, the Silverstone was intended as a road car as well as a sports race car for those wishing to compete, with its headlights behind the grille to aid the streamlining. The Healey Silverstone was in production from 1949 to 1951, and with the price tag kept below £1,000 which was an important threshold in the crippling post war UK purchase tax rules.
The perfect tyre for the Healey Silvesrtone is the cross ply Blockley 550x15, which also fits nicely in the tail of the Silverstone. For those who want a radial ply tyre we supply all these 15" sizes also.
