Hillman - Hillman Husky
The Hillman Husky was a 2 door estate bodied version of their Minx (Mark 8), available from 1954, which was replaced in 1958 with the newer looking Series 1 that had a 1390 cc overhead valve engine. For 1960 the Hillman Husky Series 2 had some body revisions, a little more power and a 4 speed gearbox. The Series 3 introduced in 1963 had the new bodywork that was used throughout the Roots range, but the Husky kept on to its 15" wheels to ensure good ground clearance. Hillman Husky Series 3 production ended in 1965. The next time the Husky name was used was in 1967, for the Hillman Imp that had its bodywork modified into a van.
Hillman Husky tyre sizes were initially quoted 5.00x15 for the earlier cars (up to 1960) and thereafter all were fitted with 5.60x15 tyre size. The radial equivalent tyre size to this is tyre size 155R15. Blockley produces a superb radial ply high quality steel belt construction 155HR15, in both standard and whitewall versions - see full details below:
