Invicta - Invicta S Type
Using the 4 1/2 litre Meadows engine, the low Invicta S Type introduced in 1930 was the sportiest high speed touring car in the 4 1/2 litre Invicta range. The chassis was underslung making the whole car low, and the cars looked stunning. But 1930 was at the start of the depression, which is why only some 75 got sold.
The S Type Invicta was used in competitions too. Donald Healey won the 1930 Monte Carlo Rally in one, and Raymond Mays had two of them in succession (paid for by the India Tyre Company) in which he hill climbed and raced the cars with success.
Invicta S type original tyre size was 600x19. The majority of S Types in use today are running on the Blockley 550/600x19 tyre which are perfect for the cars, handle beautifully, and look as they did in period.
