Jaguar - Jaguar Mk1

The Mk.1 Jaguar was the first model designed to use a monocoque construction. This was a compact 4 door saloon with the short stroke XK 2.4 litre produced in 1956. The Mk1 was joined the following year by a larger engine version 3.4 litre option for 1957. Both engine sizes were an option until 1959, and sold in some markets as sports saloons. In subsequent years these Jaguars were called the Mk1, but not until after their successor the Mk2 came out. The cars were also used for racing and handled well with their wishbone front suspension and anti roll bar as standard, and did much to keep the name Jaguar in the public eye, as it was a more affordable car in the Jaguar range.
