Jaguar - Jaguar S Type
The Jaguar S Type was built from 1963 to 1968, and was a larger version of the earlier Mk2. But unlike the earlier model, the The Jaguar S Type was fitted with independent rear suspension, that had been derived from the Mk10. When the Jaguar S Type was built, you also had the choice of the Mk2 as well as the 420G (as the Mk10 had become by then), so the S Type fell in between the smaller Mk2 and the even larger 420G. The Jaguar S Types whether in 3.4 or 3.8 capacity only ever came with the twin carburettor manifold as there wasn't adequate room under the bonnet for the triple carburettor set up. The S Type and the Mk2's in their various forms were finally phased out with the arrival of the new XJ6 in 1968.
