Jaguar - SS2
The SS2, just as the larger SS1, was built on a rolling chassis and components supplied by the Standard Motor Company, with the SS2 being introduced in 1932 with fixed head coupe bodywork. The SS2 was aimed at the small car market by William Lyons, with the side valve 1 litre engine putting it into the 9hp tax bracket. The SS2 was soon developed to a 1343cc 10hp and 1608cc 12hp for 1934 by which time a 4 seat saloon and tourer options were also added to bodywork range, to compliment the fixed head coupe. Of these 1.3 litre and 1.6 litre types of SS2, the smaller 10hp SSII was produced to 1936 while the larger capacity 12hp version stayed in production until 1938.
