Jensen - Jensen SP
Launched in 1971 by Jensen and marketed as the Jensen SP, this was the most powerful and fastest model offered by Jensen with various upgrades. The engine used was the 385bhp performance Chrysler "six-pack" of 440 cubic inch capacity, hence the model name SP in homage to the three twin barrel set up, of which Chrysler had a limited number of competition type 7.2 litre engines in stock, which Jensen were able to obtain. Carburetion and set up was always a bit tricky on the SP, not helped by the smaller under bonnet space and heat build up (which meant the SP bonnet had a twin row of louvers), compared to these Chrysler engines fitted in the Mopar cars Stateside that had acres of under bonnet area! Many SP owners ended up with a replacement set up shortly afterwards fitted by Jensen agents. A final note is that the Jensen SP is sometimes incorrectly referred to as the Interceptor SP, but Jensen never marketed this car as such.
The Jensen SP was originally fitted with tyre size 205/70VR15, and Blockley produces the perfect high speed rated period correct steel belted 205/70WR15 - see full details below. For anyone wanting a slightly larger 215/70VR15 tyre which we are told was also used on the SP, we also produce this 215/70VR15 size, which we would suggest is a better option.
