Lagonda - Lagonda 2 litre (14/60)
The 14/60 Lagonda, better known as the "2 litre" Lagonda, was introduced in 1926. Its engine was a 4 cylinder unit of 1954cc capacity and it's bore size of 72mm allowed it to fall into the 14hp road tax category. The engine had twin camshafts high in the block, operating pushrods and rockers to the overhead valves, much on the same principle as that used by Percy Rileys design. From 1927 a 2 litre Speed Model was also introduced which had a more powerful engine, now placed further back in the chassis frame, coupled with lighter bodywork to make even more use of that extra power. These 2 litre Speed Model Lagondas were further revised for 1929 when the chassis frames were altered to make the "Low chassis" 2 litre Lagonda. Production went on to 1933 when a 6 cylinder version took over - the engines for these cars now being outsourced.
Tyre size for the Lagonda 2 litre was originally 525x21. The best tyre to use now is the Blockley 525x21 which offers an authentic period correct look as the cars left the factory, coupled with being a fantastic quality tyre offering superb handling. See full details of this 525x21 tyre below:
