Lamborghini - Lamborghini 350GT
The Lamborghini 350GT was the first car produced by Lamborghini, available during 1964. The 350GT was based on the earlier prototype (the 350 GTV) comissioned by Lamborghini and overseen by Giotto Bizzarrini, with it's fantastic looking 4 cam 3.5 litre V12 all alloy engine (which was the basis of all future Lamborghini V12 models). This prototype was exhibited, but for the final 350GT production car it was changed considerably compared to the prototype. The 350GTengine was detuned considerably with lower compression, milder cams, wet sump and sidedraught carburetion, gearing the car to have close on 160mph top speed. The chassis was totally reworked by Dallara to be more suitable for a road going car, as well as for practicality and production considerations. This allowed easier access, and the bodywork by Carrozzeria Touring followed much of what went before.
The Lamborghini 350GT was in production until 1966, and then the engine capacity was enlarged to 4 litres, after which it became the 400GT.
Tyre size for the Lamborghini 350GT was originally 205R15, but the 215/70R15 size is a far better handling alternative tyre and what most people would fit, as is fitted on many of the Lamborghini models. Blockley produces an excellent period correct tread high speed rated 215/70VR15 - see full details of this tyre below:
