Lancia - Lancia Appia
The Lancia Appia was in production from 1953 as an 1100cc 4 door saloon, and was the last Lancia model to use the sliding pillar front suspension design which harked back to Vincenzo Lancias original car, which had started this Lancia tradition in the early 1920's. In addition to the standard bodywork, the Appia chassis was also supplied to many Italian coachbuilders such as Vignale, Farina, Lombardi , Boano, Scioneri and even an estate versions by Viotti. In addition there were the Appia Zagato examples which ended up being listed in the Lancia factory catalogue. Zagato had built some prototypes and a short series of Zagato Appias called the GTZ (and GTS with enclosed front lights) having the "double bubble" roof as it is called in the UK, but referred to in Italy as the "Camello" because of its double humps. For 1958 The Appia GTE was in the Lancia catalogue. Finally there was the little Appia Sport built between 1961 and 1963, looking so much like a minaturised Flaminia Zagato . .
Tyre size for the Lancia Appia was 155R15 , and Blockley produce the perfect 155HR15 tyre with good speed rating, steel belt construction and period correct tread.
