Mercedes - Mercedes Pagoda (W113)
The W113 Mercedes 230SL was the 2 seater available from 1963 which was dubbed by the press as the "Pagoda", the new replacement for the 190SL and 300SL models. The unusual styled and patented roof is what gave the W113 SL the nickname of "Pagoda", or more correctly Pagode in Germany. The bodywork designed by Paul Bracq was made with aluminium doors and bonnet with an option of a removable hard top which most Pagodas had, or came as a soft top.
The production of the fuel injected W113 started with the 230SL, followed by the 250SL (produced for 1967 only) and finally the 280SL from 1968. This final model had the 2.8 litre M130 engine, now with the largest bore that this cylinder block was capable of being taken out to. The 280SL, which again was available with Roadster and Coupe bodywork, stayed in production until 1971 and was the last "Pagoda" in the series.
Tyre size for all Mercedes 230SL Pagoda, Mercedes 250SL Pagoda and Mercedes 280SL Pagoda was the 185R14, with an H speed rating, and often seen with the Whitewall option 185HR14. Blockley was asked to produce this 185HR14 at the request of the German Pagoda Club, as they wanted something better than the Michelin MXV available, and at a more reasonable price. The realistic list price of these Blockley 185HR14 tyres is possible because we sell direct to the end user / garages and cut out the Classic tyre wholesalers and their commissions. You cannot fit anything better to your Classic Mercedes Pagoda than these period correct high quality 185HR14 Blockley tyres, which we guarantee will be the best tyres you have ever driven on (see details below). Note that these Blockley 185HR14 tyres are available in both standard and Whitewall types. We also show the wider (but same diameter) 205/70VR14 tyre which we have supplied to many Pagoda owners who want the non standard wider tyre.
