Mercedes - Mercedes SL / SLC (type R107)
The Sports car range of Mercedes R107 Roadsters were available from 1971 and were in production with various upgrades until 1989. They changed minimally in shape throughout the production. The hard top was the SL (R107) and the coupe version was the SLC (C107 ). These encompass the 350SL and SLC, with the 450SL and SLC (plus a 450SLC 5.0) available a couple of years later. As the fuel crisis came along a 6 cylinder version was also included in the form of the 280SL. As time went on the 350SL became the 380SL while the 450SL was enlarged to the 500SL and 500 SLC. By 1989 the 350SL was replaced by the 420SL and the 280SL became the 300SL. There was also for a brief period a 560SL made for the USA market. The SL was a soft top with an optional hard top, whereas the SL Coupe was a hardtop which left room for seats in the back.
Original tyre fitments for the R107 and C107 Mercedes were:
- 280SL and 280SLC tyre size was 185HR14
- 350SL and 350SLC tyre size 205/70VR14
- 380SL and 380SLC tyre size 205/70VR14
- 450SL and 450SLC tyre size 205/70VR14
- 500SL and 500SLC tyre size 205/70VR14
