Morris - Bullnose Morris
Bullnose Morris is a reference to quite a few Morris models, right from the first examples of the Morris Oxford in 1913 through to the Cowley model of 1915 and the Oxford which was made from 1920 onward. These two names of Oxford and Cowley were used into the 1930's but the distinctive earlier Bullnose radiator style was in use to the mid 1920s, hence all these earlier pre 1925 Oxfords and Cowley models being referred to by many as "Bullnose".
Tyre sizes for these Bullnose Morris types were:
- Tyre size for the earliest "Bull nose" Morris Cowley were size 26x3 (also called 700x80), a beaded edge type tyre, with a few later Cowley models being fitted with larger beaded edge tyre size 710x90 . The authentic Blockley 700x80 (26x3) is the only tyre made today to have a genuine Heavy reinforced decent construction for use on motor cars, while along with the larger 710x90 Blockley tyre sizes are the very best tyres that are manufactured, which is why we made these tyres, even though these sizes are available elsewhere from manufacturers claiming to be "Heavy" and "Reinforced", which are not! Historically, either due to a of a lack of decent beaded edge tyre availability (or perhaps their expense at the time), many of these Bullnose Morris models got altered to well base wheels over time, using the 400x19 tyre or sometimes even 4.50x19 size (which Blockley also produces the best examples of) . .
- From 1923 onward the Bullnose Cowley was quoted as having an equivalent of our Blockley 450x19 size, while the Bullnose Oxford was quoted with the larger 500x19 size. The largest of the Oxford models with 2.5 litre engine (made 1926 to 1929) was fitted with 5.25x21 tyre size. Blockley in any case make all three of these sizes, with the period correct tread pattern to make the cars look absolutely perfect, as well as handling superbly on the best tyres you can buy. We also make a 475/500x19 tyre size as well. See details of all the various "Bullnose" Morris tyre options below:
