Morris - Morris 1800
The Morris 1800 was made from 1966, a badge engineered BMC version of the Austin 1800, which had been produced since 1964. The transverse engine 1800 was very spacious, and was a basically a big version of a Mini, as designed by Issigonis. The advantage of the later introduction of this Morris version was that some of the teething troubles seen in the Austin were avoided with the Morris 1800. And as developments occurred with the Austin 1800, so too were these incorporated in the Morris 1800 with the Mk2 in 1968 and the Morris 1800 Mk2 S which had the twin carburettor engine which provided an additional 10 hp. Production carried on to 1975.
