Ogle - Ogle SX1000
Introduced in 1962 the Ogle SX1000 was a fibre glass bodied 2 seater designed and built by David Ogle to fit the new Mini chassis, initially as supplied by the customer to modify. Shortly after these SX1000 Ogles were supplied complete with either Cooper 997 or Alexander tuned units, and were capable of around 110mph. Between 60 and 70 of these Ogle 1000's were manufactured before David Ogles untimely death in a road accident, and production was wound down. The bodywork moulds were sold to a boat builder who continued to built a car called the Fletcher GT.
Ogle SX100 tyre size was 145R10 which Blockley produces the best example of, with steel belt construction, good speed rate and period correct looks. A wider version of this tyre is the 165/70R10 Blockley. Full details below:
