Peugeot - Peugeot P4

The Peugeot P4 was built for the French military. It is basically the rugged off road Mercedes G-Klasse (known in the UK as G-Wagen) built under licence in France starting in 1978. For political reasons the vehicle was reworked with a Peugeot 504 engine in both petrol and diesel options, with Peugeot 604 transmission and other considerations making the content of the vehicle an acceptable 50% French. Although primarily for the French military, Peugeot sold a few of these cars for civilian use, but the licence arrangements only allowed these sales within France.
