Riley - Riley 4/68 & 4/72
The Riley 4/68 was the BMC badge engineered Riley launched in 1968. The 4/68 had the Farina body design fitted with the 4 cylinder B series 1489cc engine. Something similar looking had already been made with the Wolseley 15/60 and Austin Cambridge, but the Riley marque was the best appointed top of the range model out of all three, and out of the 3 brands was the only one fitted with a rev counter. For 1961 the 4/68 became the Riley 4/72 now with the BMC C series engine which had been bored out to 1622cc, and at the same time (like it's Wolseley counterpart) was given a slightly longer wheelbase and front track, to try and alleviate some of the handling issues of the previous 4/68. For the Riley 4/72 an automatic gearbox was also now an option. On the whole, it is said there was much to be desired with the handling when pushed to the limit! Production of the Riley 4/72 continued until 1969.
Tyre size: The Riley 4/60 and 4/72 original tyre fitment was 5.90x14. The radial tyre size equivalent is the 165R14 .
