Rolls Royce - Rolls Royce Phantom 1
The new 40/50 Rolls-Royce Phantom 1, or New Phantom as it was called, appeared in 1925 as the replacement for the previously made 40/50 Silver Ghost. The engine of the Phantom 1 had a marginally larger capacity at 7668cc and updated with an overhead valve design. From the last few years of production the Rolls Royce Phantoms iron cylinder head was replaced with an aluminium version. Many Rolls-Royce were also produced at the Springfield factory in the USA. Whereas the English Phantom 1 was made between 1925 and 1929, the Springfield Rolls-Royce Phantom was made from 1926 to 1931. The differences were minor, revolving on chassis lubrication details and, after the first 50 cars were made, the Springfield built cars all had left hand drive.
Rolls Royce Phantom 1 tyre size was originally 675x21. Blockley produces the superb high quality 675/700x21 tyre with the correct original looking period tread pattern so the cars can look and handle perfectly, while at the same time our tyres also offer far better ride and road holding quality than anything else available - which is why we built them.
