Rolls Royce - Rolls Royce Phantom 2
The Rolls Royce Phantom 2 was introduced in 1929, having a higher compression engine that was based on the previous Phantom it replaced. The new Phantom 2 had a more "modern" way of joining the engine in unit with the gearbox. The leaf springs at the rear of the chassis were now underslung rather than the previous cantilever layout. And a sportier shorter chassis Phantom 2 was also made available, the Phantom 2 Continental, no doubt in an attempt to try and do something about the popularity of WO Bentleys sportier 8 litre. The Phantom 2 was built until 1935.
Rolls Royce Phantom 2 tyre size was originally either 7.00x19 , 7.00x20 or 7.00x21 all of which sizes Blockley produces superb examples of. All three of these Blockley tyre sizes offer truly superb handling and ride qualities, unlike anything else available, as well as having the period correct tread pattern as fitted from new, as shown in your owners handbook! The Phantom 2 started off being fitted with the 7.00x21 tyre size for the first year of production (as fitted to it's predecessor Phantom), and by 1930 the wheel diameter was reduced to 20" and fitted with tyre size 7.00x20. Around 1933 the wheel diameter was reduced further still with the Phantom 2 now fitted with the 7.00x19 tyre size. Full details of all three sizes of these superb Blockley tyres are shown at the links below - you cannot buy a better tyre, and what may appear to be our low prices are only because we sell direct, and not through the Classic tyre wholesalers. We also produce correct fitting thicker butyl inner tubes to suit.
