Rover - Rover P6 2000TC
Winning the Car of the Year Award in the year it was launched, in 1963 as the Rover 2000, the Rover P6 series continued in production until 1977. Smaller than it's predecessors it was a fresh clean sweep design with chassis build, with some influence it is said from the Citroen DS. It had four wheel disc brakes, unique front and rear suspension system and styling based on a gas turbine saloon Rover were working on. This was the Rover that would persuade you have it over the alternative S type Jaguar! The development, in order, was Rover 2000, Rover 2000TC, Rover 2200, Rover 2200TC, the TC (twin carburettor) models being the higher tuned versions with other upgrades. The 2200 was the 2.2 litre version of Rovers four cylinder engine.
Rover P6 tyre sizes: All the Rover P6 models with the 4 cylinder engines (2000 , 2000TC , 2200 , 2200TC ) had as standard the 165R14 tyre size, of which a non standard wider tyre version tyre would be the 185/70R14 size for those that might want this. But the correct factory fitment size was 165HR14.
The Rover P6 fitted with the V8 engine, called Rover 3500 and Rover 3500S, had the full 80 profile 185R14 tyre size, the larger diameter being required mainly due to the gearing because the back axle ratio was kept the same as the 4 cylinder cars.
Blockley produces all the tyre size options for the Rover P6 variants with high speed rated and period correct tread patterns. 165HR14, 185/70VR14 and 185HR14, see full details below:
