Saab - Saab 96

The Saab 96 was an aerodynamic 2 door coupe produced from 1960 to replace the earlier Saab 93, from which it evolved. The Saab 96 started life with the 2 stroke 841cc engine, and by 1965 the Saab 96 models had an extended front which was anticipating the top secret bigger engine that was coming. The Saab 96 received the Ford Taunus V4 1500 cc engine in 1967. 1968 was the last year for the 2 stroke Saab 841cc engine, while the bodywork of the Saab 96 was also revised to have larger front and rear windows. By 1976 Swedish emissions laws meant the new Saab 96L had the engine power output reduced to 96hp, but from 1977 onward with the twin carburettor engine power was marginally increased to give 98 hp. The Saab 96 had a good reputation for reliability, winning the RAC Rally on three occasions, the Monte Carlo Rally twice, with many famous Swedish drivers being linked to the Saab 96. Production of the Saab 96 carried on to 1980.

Tyre size for Saab 96 with V4 engine was originally 155R15.
