Toyota - Toyota Hilux
The Toyota Hilux "pick up truck" was first available from 1968. From 1975 the Hilux became an altogether larger vehicle, with the 1.5 litre engine discarded for a 2.2 litre engine. 1978 saw further revisions with torsion bar front suspension and the track was widened. By the early 1980's the 2.2 and 2.4 litre diesel engine were included in the options, in both standard and turocharged versions, alongside the petrol versions. For the USA market the name Hilux was discarded from 1976 to be replaced with a variation of names over the years such as Truck and Pickup Truck.
