Toyota - Toyota Land Cruiser J40 , J70
Toyota was building four wheel drive military vehicles from the
1930's, with continual development of which captured Willys Jeeps would
have assisted! In any case by 1950 Toyota was building Willys Jeeps to the order of the US military for use in the Korean war. By the mid
1950's Toyotas renamed their 4x4 officially as "Land Cruiser". By the
1960's the new J40 was built with petrol 3.9 and 4.2 litre engines, or a
variety of diesel engines rangining from 3 litre to 4 litres.
The J70 came in 1984 with many engine sizes over the years (petrol 2.4 to 4.5 litre and diesel from 2.4 litre to 4.5 litre turbo).
