TVR - TVR Vixen

The TVR Vixen took over from the last of the line Grantura (fitted with the MGB engine) starting in 1967. With its all independent double wishbone suspension all around, and disc brakes at the front, this car came in at under 750kg. The first Vixen differed from its predecessor only by having a 1600cc Ford engine, although the first few cars did still have the MGB engine, which TVR were having supply difficulties with, hence the change over to Ford engine supply. The TVR Vixen Series 2 from 1968 had a 4 and a half inch longer chassis, to standardise TVR models, and the round Cortina lights at the back were changed. Much work went into this model making it higher quality all over, better fits and the thicker bodies now removable from the chassis in the event of repairs. For the TVR Vixen Series 3 of 1970 cast wheels were now standard and wire wheels were phased out. The final Vixen, the Mk4 used the heavier chassis of the "M series" cars, but with the Vixen bodywork, although only a few were built in 1972.

Tyre size for all TVR Vixen was originally 165R15, and Blockley produces a high speed rated, 165VR15 tyre with period correct tread pattern. A wider alternative to this tyre size is our 185/70VR15. Both these high quality, high speed rated tyres have period correct tread patterns, and offer superb handling. See details of these tyres below:
