Vauxhall - Vauxhall 14/40
The Vauxhall 14/40 was produced straight after the First war for its first public viewing in 1921. It was a 2.3 litre side valve four cylinder. At 2.3 litres the 14/40 was the smallest of the car produced by Vauxhall in the 1920's! The Vauxhall 14/40 was built until 1927, during which time the gearbox went from 3 speed to 4 speeds, and front wheel brakes became standard in 1926.
The original tyre size quoted was 31x5.25 which equates to a 5.25x21 tyre, as produced by Blockley with the correct period tread pattern. The earlier cars would have of course been using beaded edge tyres, and these 14/40's would have had something like either a 815x105 or an 820x120 tyre, again both of which Blockley produces the best examples.
