Vauxhall - Vauxhall Firenza
The Vauxhall Firenza was produced from 1971 as a two door fastback coupe, with 4 cylinder engines and rear wheel drive. Originally offered with the three engine sizes of 1159 cc, or overhead cam engines of 1600cc and 2 litres. But by the end of the year these engines were increased in size to 1256cc, 1800cc and 2.3 litres. For 1972 the 2300SportSL was using the over square 2.3 litre engine slanted at 45 degrees and tuned to eventually give 131bhp. Firenza production continued to 1975. The rarest of the Firenza models was the High Performance (HP) Firenza which became known as the Droopsnoot. Vauxhall had planned a huge production but eventually only a couple of hundred were made due to the 1973 oil crisis.
Tyre size for the Vauxhall Firenza was originally cross ply 5.60x13, and as Vauxhall adopted radial ply tyres they fitted the Firenza with both 155 and 165R13 tyres, and shortly after from 1973 the Firenza was fitted with 185/70R13 tyre size. This 185/70R13 tyre is the same diameter as the narrower 165R13. Blockley produces a high quality 165HR13 tyre, as well as the wider 185/70VR13 tyre - see full details below:
