Volvo - Volvo 140/144/145

The Volvo 140 range was in production from 1966. The way this new Volvo numbering system worked meant that the Volvo 142 was a first series, 4 cylinder with 2 doors (coupe), so consequently the Volvo 144 was a first series, 4 cylinder 4 door. The 144 series is the Volvo that took over from the Amazon, using many of its components including its 1.8 litre engine. But one big difference was that the 144 now had 4 wheel disc brakes. For 1965 came the Volvo 145, which means first series 4 cylinder with 5 doors, or put another way, the Volvo estate car! For 1969 the 2 litre engine was available. The S versions were fitted with twin carburettors. The 140 range were the first Volvos that started pushing and marketing the passenger safety aspect of their products. These Volvos were continually restyled and improved until production ended in 1974.

Volvo 140 series tyre size (for Volvo models 142, 144 and 145) was originally 165R15. Blockley produces an exceptional period correct and good speed rated 165VR15 tyre size for the Volvo 140 - see full details below:
